HELLO THERE! I am so excited to be writing this blog post on our brand new website!
If we haven't met yet, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dannielle. I am the founder of MT Ed Now, an intern at Children's Health, Dallas (with 11 weeks to go!), a Belmont University alumnae, a fiancé to my high school sweetheart, a Taylor Swift lover, and a very passionate soon to be music therapist.
This account was born on August 10th, 2020 in the back of my car on the way to a trampoline park. It was the COVID themed summer before my very last semester of coursework at Belmont. Something you should know about me is I'm quite impulsive. I always knew I wanted to create an account dedicated to music therapy advocacy and felt this was something missing in our community, however, I never thought I was qualified enough. That was until August 10th, 2020 when I was on the way to a trampoline park and felt the overwhelming sense that I, in fact, was qualified. So, I pulled up Canva, created a logo and a name, created an instagram account, and posted. Since then I have been absolutely blown away at this journey.
Now, 9 months later, MT Ed Now has a community of 1600 followers, a team of 7 students from Universities across America running it, a conference slot representing its' name, and 22 students, interns and professionals who have done takeovers. As the founder of this account, I have had the privilege of experiencing things and connecting with people I, as a music therapy student, never dreamt possible this early in my not-quite-yet-a-career. All because of a car ride to a freakin trampoline park and a random burst of passion.
I am SO excited for what's to come. In true Dannielle fashion, this website was created on impulse. I am writing this blog on a Friday... and I began designing this website on Wednesday. Let's just say when I get motivated, I run with it (except not physically because let's be clear, I HATE running). My hope for this website is to further create community inside and outside of our profession, facilitate opportunities for unique engagement, and offer you music therapy related resources. If any of that sounds interesting to you, I encourage you to follow us on instagram and facebook, continue to check out the website for upcoming events, and stay tuned for what's to come. I am thrilled that you are here!
See you on the gram.
Dannielle
